I really don't think they would do without the rink. As much as I agree it should be done elsewhere, I doubt it will. Thing is, that playing ball hockey is not affected by the rain. And really, how many of those dudes or dudettes or roller hockey or lacrosse players were in attendance.

The rink won't be under the roof anyways, so how cares if its somewhere else in tom binnie park.

I am not sure but is there room anywhere perhaps for Earthramp to build a small set? Or would the mere suggestion of that lessen the possibility of bike friendliness in the park?
I personally think the shape and space lends itself more to a design similar to Hastings.
I doubt the transition/bowl section would be anything like Hastings but perhaps to even have a portion therof would lend more space to a decent street section instead of the bottle pit beside the bowl at Hastings.
It just seems that the shape of the space is weird.
Steeze if the rink won't be under the roof then I hope there is a bit of separation b/w street and bowl.
The street skaters at Bonsor use the bowl next to the street section as their personal garbage pit. I could see the same thing happening if the roof cover is used to cover a common sitting area as opposed to an actual riding/skating area. Thing is, I could seriously see the skaters sitting under the covered bowl in the rain with a bonfire going while the street section is too wet to skate.
I don't mean to sound negative, I really really want to see something cool, I just hope that a design could benefit both groups.
Also, will there be lights? Or am I just stupid?

Honestly, the best thing to do would be to put the hockey rink somewhere else, it constricts everything way to much. Take the rink out and suddenly there's lots of room for a gnar gnar bowl... |
Just lose the hockey rink all together..:-)

Meeting #2 is saturday, from 11-2. Same location as last time. The more bikers, the more chance of a good park.
